Top Interior Design Trends For 2017

Posted by BedfordBrooks in Interior design on Dec 12th, 2016

The new year provides a great opportunity to update your home, allowing you to feel refreshed in a new space. Here are some of the top interior design trends for 2017 that you can incorporate into your own home.

2017 Interior Design Trends

Upholstered Bedheads

Bedheads are one of the biggest interior trends of 2017. Upholstered bedheads will be replacing wooden ones, adding a touch of glamour to bedrooms.

Relaxing Furniture

This trend is thought to come about as the weight of being perpetually connected to technology continues to press upon us, causing many of us to want to escape. Relaxed furniture will be our refuge in 2017, whether in the form of deep sofas, oversized love seats or chunky knit wool rugs.

Terracotta

Terracotta, particularly terracotta that has a natural matte finish, will be trendy in 2017, making appearances in a variety of places in the home, including feature walls in bathrooms and on fireplaces.

Cork

Cork is another material that will be coming back into style in 2017, making appearances in coffee tables and even night tables made entirely of cork. It is projected that many people will begin to install cork walls in their offices, as well. Cork is ideal because it is absorbs noise, and also brings a sense of warmth and texture to a room.

Dark Green Colours

Dark green will be a particularly trendy colour in 2017, replacing both navy and midnight blues. You will begin to see more dark green colours in cushions and in decor that serves as an accent. This colour is particularly great because it brings in a sense of the great outdoors, something that many of us are lacking in our technology-filled worlds.

(Faux) Fur Chairs

Another trend when it comes to furnishings is that of faux fur chairs. In fact, all furniture with faux fur accents will be trendy in 2017. However, if you like this trend and are thinking about incorporating it into your home, be careful not to go overboard, it is better to invest in a statement piece instead.

Woven Baskets

When it comes to trendy decorative pieces, woven baskets will be on top in 2017. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, but they are also practical, allowing you to declutter any space in a very inexpensive way. Seagrass baskets or bamboo-jute baskets are particularly lovely choices.
