The Art Of Lighting

It’s amazing to think how far the lighting industry has evolved. What started off as a necessity for seeing in the dark has transformed into works of art. Art can be defined in many ways, but all art is meant to evoke a feeling. Lighting has the power to create a certain ambience that influences our mood.

A great artist by the name of Pablo Picasso once said, “Colours, like features, follow the changes of emotions.” Changing the colour of a light bulb, shade or simply diming the lights can do wonders. Having different types and amount of lighting is another important aspect for mood lighting. Use table, floor and ceiling lights to highlight certain areas or pieces within a space.

Lighting designer Arturo Alvarez and his team are masters of sculptural, handmade and stylish lighting. Their line “emotional lighting” features everything from colourful pendants to funky floor lamps. Seek the unusual and indulge your design senses.
